To promote health knowledge and behaviors, the New Taipei City Government transformed the original "New Taipei Healthy School" into "New Taipei eSports Champion" in 2020, introducing a pioneering health competition across Taiwan using online gaming. The design inspiration for this initiative aims to instill correct health and lifestyle concepts from a young age. Unlike traditional buzzer-answering formats, eSports Champion incorporates maze exploration and role-playing, adding strategic and teamwork elements to make learning enjoyable.
The game features nine unique characters, each with distinct skills. Participants must use these character traits to collect fruits representing six essential nutrients, thus fostering accurate dietary and health concepts. The activity also addresses the digital divide by designing for tablet use and low-speed internet environments, ensuring that all students in the city can participate.
