Yunlin County Government has been actively promotes various sustainable resource circulation strategies. The core of the "Sustainable Christmas Market: Artistic Recycling Chill" event was to break the public's stereotype of "waste" by showcasing the value of resource reuse through installation art and hands-on crafting experiences. The event integrated environmental education with real-life experiences, encouraged by the local government to involve citizens and volunteers. It aimed to inspire people to rethink resource usage and collaboratively create a sustainable future.
The theme of the event was "Waste Reuse," featuring four distinctive installations. These included the "Sustainable Christmas Tree," symbolizing the reuse of agricultural waste and designed and built by volunteers; "Perpetual Growth," which showcased the boundless creativity of the residents; "Sustainable Romance," demonstrating a commitment to environmental stewardship; and "Bears Can't Find Home," which called attention to the climate crisis.
The event also focused on the integration of education and practical application. Through various interactive sessions, such as obstacle courses centered on local ecology and parent-child learning experiences, participants were able to learn about resource recycling and waste reduction in a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere, fostering a sense of sustainability starting at the family level. Moreover, the event prohibited the use of disposable items and provided a reusable tableware rental service, allowing participants to experience the feasibility of practicing a circular economy.
