This project centers around a traditional long and narrow street house commonly found in Taiwan. We have deconstructed and reimagined its spatial layout, aiming to transform it into a unique living space. The front area embraces a casual street style, immersing visitors in a captivating display of blue neon lights that exude vibrancy. As you move through the space, it seamlessly transitions into a serene and elegant bedroom area, ultimately leading to a bright and tranquil outdoor courtyard. With the interplay of light, shadow, and colors, we have broken away from the typical impression of narrow and small Taiwanese townhouses, creating a design that moves from depth to shallowness, and darkness to light.

This dwelling is a renovation of an existing house that holds a precious value, as it once served as the homeowner's childhood living space. With the traces of time embedded within its space, it is an art piece in itself, carrying the weight of memories and cherished moments. We have artfully intertwined the old and the new, infusing the framework of the old house with modern lines and materials to sculpt a truly distinctive home with profound depth.

While preserving the essence of its street-house origins, we have incorporated contemporary elements within the framework of the old house, establishing a harmonious dialogue between the past and the present. The result is a relaxing and atmospheric living gallery, where delicate ironwork seamlessly blends with sleek aesthetics, showcasing and embracing the interplay of light and air. Through the use of cement coatings and traditional pebble ground, we have recreated the gray tones and mineral textures to reflect the coexistence of ancient and modern influences. By carefully crafting window and glass configurations, we have created a dynamic artwork named "Daily View." This installation showcases clothing refracted by light and shadows, presenting a changing canvas that narrates everyday stories.

We believe that life, hobbies, and collections are all forms of art, deserving exhibition and preservation. "Chill Flat" is our collaborative creation, a gallery that celebrates the homeowner's daily life.
