Archy, the archaeologist dog, was commissioned to investigate the identity of the first people of prehistoric Taiwan. After rigorously researching and studying comprehensive archaeological data in the database through time and space, Archy has teased out the important clues and traced the origin of the first people to two locations: Liangdao Island of Matsu Archipelago to the northwest of Taiwan and the Tainan Science Park in southern Taiwan.
The prehistoric ancestors are “revived” and given a vivid image thanks to modern sciences: physical anthropology reveals what prehistoric ancestors have experienced through their life by examining evidence such as bones while archaeology enlightens us on the life and behaviors of ancient communities based on archaeological remains and features. Incorporating the two disciplines and comparing different studies helps us gain insight into the rich and diverse aspects of our ancestors’ lives and tell the stories of the land and people, from the past, present, and into the future.
