In the early morning of September 3, 1973, a commuter ferry departed from Qijin Pier and suddenly capsized and sank during its voyage. All 25 victims were young, unmarried female workers.
The"25 White Roses of Qijin" pays tribute to the contribution of working women to Taiwan's economic growth through the ferry incident.
