The Grand Cosmos Resort is the first and the only two 鈥淓xcellent Five Star Hotel鈥 certified by Taiwan鈥檚 Tourism Bureau. It is a tourist hotel, resort villa, hot spring hotel, and water park into an entity. Situated in the East Rift Valley of Taiwan, it embodies and reflects the serene beauty of the area. The surroundings are characterized by sprawling valleys, soothing thermal springs, and vast fields. Meticulous planning ensured that the construction site harmonized perfectly with the natural landscape. The design concept embraces the grandeur of Southern European manor architecture, featuring steeply pitched roofs, towering spires, gables, ornate dormer windows, and chimneys. This combination results in a distinctive and diverse architectural style that seamlessly blends into the breathtaking mountainous scenery. Notably, the steeply pitched roof design mirrors the undulating terrain, creating a delightful small-town ambiance. The project has around 30 structures of different sizes and functions, positioned around a central plaza, creating a well-organized and peaceful hot spring town. The utility building resembles a church at the heart of the square. It is the primary energy source for all public utilities and symbolizes life鈥檚 origin. This creative approach turns the supposed-to-be least favored utility building into the most popular landmark within the resort. Also, the overall building coverage ratio is 19.76%, less than half of what local regulations require, which attains sustainable architecture. Besides, base greening, water retention, and rainwater recycling system ensure efficient resource management. The resort鈥檚 location is in an active seismic zone necessitated strict adherence to seismic code standards during the design process. Since it is in an active seismic zone, careful selections of materials ensure that the resort can effectively reduce the load and withstand earthquakes. As part of the eco-friendly design, the project emphasizes planting native tree species, such as Calocedrus formosana, Acer serrulatum, and Taiwan Zelkova. This deliberate selection creates a lush and diverse landscape while promoting ecological conservation. It establishes a resort-wide barrier-free environment. By incorporating accessibility, the building ensures that it is easily accessible to individuals of all physical abilities and guarantees everyone can enjoy the amenities and facilities without limitations.
