The design originated with a newlywed couple’s 59.5 m² home. Upon learning they would soon welcome twins, the designers embarked on a comprehensive transformation—from bespoke planning through to completion. Named “Gemini,” the project both celebrates the growing family and embodies a dual-axis concept: the vertical axis anchors the home’s core, while the horizontal axis weaves together daily life. From the very first sketch, our design team placed the family’s evolving needs at the center, carefully calibrating the flow and rhythm of each space to anticipate and accommodate the changes ahead.
The priority was to reestablish clear axes—the home’s primary sightlines and circulation paths. In the original layout, the developer had placed the kitchen squarely at the center, fragmenting traffic into four dead-ended corridors and squandering valuable space, especially problematic in a compact footprint. Through a bespoke renovation, the designers boldly shifted the kitchen suite southward, tucking it against the rear balcony. This plan unified the horizontal flow into one seamless route and, at the same time, respected traditional Feng Shui principles.
Once circulation was clarified, the entire layout fell back into harmony. The designers replaced a bulky screen partition with an elegant arched portal and a half-height wall at the entry, guiding the eye naturally from the front door to the secondary bedroom. A seamless bookcase-TV–TV wall not only maximizes storage but also anticipates the future division of a children’s room. Anticipating the needs of a family of four, the designers also relocated the guest-bath basin to ease morning routines. In every detail—from the streamlined volumes to the precisely calculated proportions—the design conceals a wealth of careful planning, while preserving the flexibility for the home to grow with its occupants.
