As China’s first large-scale digital landscape painting themed on urban culture jointly created by two human artists and AI (artificial intelligence), AI Scroll: Prosperous of Modern Suzhou achieves great breakthroughs in both artistic value and technological innovation through its dedicated exploration and practice of ‘Human-AI Collaborative Creation’. It provides a groundbreaking paradigm for authorship identification of AI-generated art.
The organic integration of Suzhou’s natural scenery, classical gardens, and modern cityscapes, coupled with a traditional Chinese narrative form—the handscroll, showcases the city’s profound cultural deposits and vibrant vitality in the new era. Notably, the deep collaboration between human artists and AI algorithms reinterprets traditional Chinese landscape painting art without compromising on its essence. Such a disruptive theoretical innovation in art will significantly propel the digital evolution of Chinese aesthetics.
Considering the creative journey of this work, the design team has launched the premiere event. To address controversies around the authorship of AI-generated content, the team pioneered the concept of ‘Originality Stamping’. During the event, two human artists and an ‘AI Signing Pen’ collectively signed the original painting, officially recognizing it as a ‘Human-AI Co-Creation’. This not only established AI’s creative identity, but also rendered the work an irreplaceable original with higher value than replicas. In addition, the event introduced academic lectures and derivative cultural & creative product sales exhibitions to successfully balance cultural and economic benefits, while also powerfully promoting the coordinated development of art, culture, and theory, becoming a landmark moment in the modern Chinese cultural context.
