The designer has successfully overcome the challenges of a small 46 square meter space with innovative spatial planning. By employing asymmetrical geometric designs and circulation alterations, the designer has not only transformed the irregular floor plan into a highlight that amplifies the sense of space but also enhanced the interaction between indoor and outdoor areas. The circular sign at the entrance, representing the sunrise with its orange-red color, acts as a captivating focal point that leads customers into the central space of the restaurant, which is built around an open kitchen. This layout encourages customer interaction and gives the impression of a more spacious environment. An elevated platform extends outdoors, providing additional seating while maintaining visual harmony between the interior and exterior, creating a unique dining experience closely connected to the natural environment, offering a feast for the senses.
In terms of materials, the designer has meticulously selected local natural wood and reused as much of the original building materials as possible to reflect a commitment to sustainability and eco-friendliness. The interior color scheme is dominated by warm wood tones, complemented by black lines, patterns, and striking iron accents, creating a modern and refined Japanese Wabi-Sabi style.
The lighting design addresses both functional and emotional needs with carefully chosen fixtures that match the interior decor and furniture, highlighting the beauty and taste of the space. The dining area achieves a bright and comfortable ambiance through the strategic use of lighting layers and color temperatures.
Faced with tight budget and time constraints, the designer swiftly transformed the restaurant into a famous check-in spot on social media in just 38 days, paying great attention to detail and differentiation. By reorienting the building and creating open spaces, the design cleverly enhances its distinct visibility, injecting new vitality into the commercial streets of Hualien City.
