Stepping into this new apartment in Banqiao, facing the riverside, one is immediately enveloped in an atmosphere reminiscent of lingering morning mist鈥攓uiet and gently warm. The design is inspired by the owner's longstanding passion for mountain hiking. Drawing from the unique misty tranquility and calm found in the mountains, the designer themed the project " Arashi " (Mountain Mist), conceptualizing the space as a leisurely journey through a forest. This design invites residents to step into nature with every stride, embracing a lifestyle philosophy centered on inner calm and self-reflection. The hope is that, in their daily lives, the residents may engage in a silent dialogue with the mountains, ultimately crafting a poetic and personal sanctuary.
The thrill of mountain hiking often lies in that moment when, after each turn, a vast, breathtaking view suddenly unfolds鈥攁 feeling that epitomizes the joy of the climb. To echo this sentiment, the designers reconfigured the original 2+1 room layout into a two-bedroom design, distilling the space to its pure essence. From the entrance, a series of flexible partitions and gradual material transitions guide both the eyes and the footsteps through the living room, master bedroom, and secondary bedroom, much like a walk down a forest trail that gently parts the mist to reveal intimate, refined vistas at every turn.
A dedicated corner of the living room was thoughtfully designed as the broadest area for natural light, offering an unobstructed view of the distant riverside, so that everyday moments can be imbued with the gentle flow of daylight and wind. The various zones are interconnected through a progressive interplay of light and textured surfaces. The open plan maximizes the incursion of natural sunlight, while the entire space is finished with natural wood veneer certified as an eco-friendly material, and all paints and adhesives used are non-toxic and low in formaldehyde. This meticulous attention to detail ensures that as one moves gracefully through the space, the essence of nature is continuously evoked, inviting memories and imagination to flourish.
