Commissioned by a sociable homeowner seeking a space for entertaining family and friends, this project reimagines a multi-functional residence with high spatial flexibility. Adaptable furniture and diverse functional elements allow the space to accommodate gatherings, movie nights, cooking, casual drinks, and a variety of social activities. The homeowner’s fondness for both the laid-back atmosphere of British pubs and the refined elegance of Chinese aesthetics inspired a design that blends Eastern and Western influences. The result is a distinctly personalized living space that reflects both cultural depth and contemporary sensibility.

To create a home that accommodates a wide range of activities, the design team removed existing partitions and adopted an open-plan layout. Flexible furniture arrangements and versatile functional zones were introduced to maximize adaptability and spatial efficiency. As a result, the same area can easily transform to support aerial yoga, social gatherings, movie nights, leisure, cooking, and casual drinks—offering the homeowner a highly dynamic and responsive living experience.

Taking into account the homeowner’s appreciation for both Eastern and Western aesthetics, the design integrates red brick walls, octagonal tiles, grilles, and exposed ceilings—elements drawn from British and industrial influences—while using wood accents to unify the overall composition. To enhance visual cohesion, the design repurposes the home's existing floor tiles on the TV feature wall and applies cement-based finishes to select wall surfaces, achieving a seamless transition between spaces and a harmonious blend of styles.

In response to the homeowner’s sociable lifestyle and frequent gatherings with friends and family, the design adopts a human-centric approach. The design team implemented an open-plan layout that integrates the living and dining areas, deliberately expanded the entry foyer, and introduced ample storage throughout the home. These strategies ensure smooth circulation, generous space for hosting, and practical storage solutions, seamlessly balancing functionality, aesthetics, and the needs of everyday living.
